Disclaimer
This method works as of Nov. 2025. The Twitter/X algorithm changes frequently, but does not change incentives all too much. And since Elon and his folks do not seem to care all too much about quality, but would rather promote brainrot, you are welcome to use this method - it works! Let me know, once it doesn't.
If you are looking for a better alternative, I think people are catching on to the idea that quality, authenticity, and human connection should be the ultimate goals and a much better algorithm. You can game the system as long as you promote better ways of connecting with people. Enjoy the fruits of your labor, but always give back. Thank you.

Hi guys, now go out and reply like a beast
The Story
It was just any other weekend. I opened Twitter and browsed through content while sipping coffee before working on my project (epicat). There was no big revelation, there was no big event, it was a plain post from @woocassh that he had almost reached 5M impressions for Creator Revenue Share and was getting monetized (payout) on X.
When I asked him how, he send me a link to this:

This random reply(!) halved his payout requirement and made me envious & sparked my curiosity for an experiment I always wanted to try:
Can you collect 5M impressions from just replying?
I started the experiment right away. To achieve 5M, you have to get above 55k impressions per day for 3 months on your posts AND replies (X requirement) - while the requirement states posts, it also applies to replies. Basically, all tweets count.
To make it interesting, I went for 1/10th of this 2.5M banger or 5x my minimum goal. I didn't want to give this more than 21 days (3 weeks), because I want to build... not reply.
Goal: 250.000 impressions/day. I wanted to baseline how much I can get at day 1 and how many replies I'd require to scale this up. I create a list of viral accounts on Saturday. Sunday, I went all-in.
The initial list:
- NO CONTEXT HUMANS @HumansNoContext (6.1M followers)
- non aesthetic things @PicturesFoIder (5.1M followers)
- Elon Musk @elonmusk (229.3M followers)
- The Figen @TheFigen_ (2.5M followers)
- Justin Bieber @justinbieber (99M followers)
Tools:
- X Pro: 1x viral list column, 1x for me, 1x search column
- On my second experiment (part 2), I added a highlighter script, when I noticed that my own "For You" feed turned into controversial & viral posts only. But I've used the "For You" tab without the script at the beginning to get a feel for which posts go viral.
Day 1 (Sunday)
Setting realistic expectations
Within the first day on Sunday, I replied to way too many posts (229) which I wouldn't even consider highly viral now. But I hit one banger regardless:

This reply wasn't accumulating much impressions (late at the day), but it escalated into the next day with 7k/hr avg.

Other relevant replies (half-life of a reply/post is 24hrs, so that day assume 50% impressions):

The number was growing, and late at night (1AM) the 24hr mark hit - it was at 263,230 impressions. This method works - W!
Day 2 (Monday)
Reply half-life & myth busting
When I woke up before work, I checked the impressions stat. 120k, WTF... This meant I could go to sleep at night, and my replies would work until the next day, continuing to accumulate impressions.
Damn, let's test this after work and use some search filters. I'm looking for 70k/hr impressions posts (simple calculation: 10x my best reply) - but for this, I needed to verify likes, replies, & reposts/quotes to create a formula.
Right before work, lunch, and in the breaks, I hammered out replies on meme posts as many as I could. After work, I wanted to figure this out with the search and see if I could find more niches other than memes (because they started to refresh too slowly).
Work done, let's look at the stats: 300k. Oops... I overshot my daily goal, and I still have the rest of the day - challenge accepted. I managed to hit 440 replies at the end of the day, and the impressions were 904,694 in total. Not bad, this won't take 21 days if I continue like a madman.
And now, ladies and gentlemen... no quality, no creativity, boring response - this is what you're competing against and this is my best reply for that day:

These two days and esp. this reply busted so many myths for me:
- Reply with quality and effort to a post: NO, not required, just reply to huge viral posts
- You can't reply every time of the day: I just did at lunch w/o focus
- Only bangers translate to big impressions: 6 likes?
- It works only on big accounts: NO, the mentioned accounts had "only" 100k followers and is based on adult content (worst performing average on posts - but with potential for heavy hitter bangers or trends)
- The post has to be fresh: NO, it was 9 hrs old
The rest of the replies weren't better, some for adult content later that day bc of the search (it can't reliably filter out adult content), and most were just simple @grok: what is this replies. Omitted for brevity and I was still figuring out how the search filter worked.
Let's see what the next day brings. Apparently, I can get away without any quality?!
Day 3 (Tuesday)
Can I beat that number?
Question: How many replies can you make on a day?
I did 611
Why? Because that day, I woke up with approximately 250k, and I wanted to beat the 900k record. Also, I had no meetings, had a test-driven day (with lots of tests running & waiting), and woke up early.
Keep in mind, all posts still prior still had a half-life longer than 24 hours. Your analytics number grows, and most of the time, you don't know why. It spikes when you hit banger. That day... no bangers and a lot of pain to try to surpass that number.
In the end, I hit a few 75k OK replies but I'm not sure if they contributed much at the end of the day. BUT...
If 50% of your replies go well above 1k, and you reply 600 times in a day. It makes a huge dent. This is the power of numbers. And those 300+ posts above 1k ended the day with:
1,355,507
The record was broken, my fingers burning, my search bombarded, and people started to block me. Sleepy sleep. Let's see what we can do the next day.
Day 4 (Wednesday)
Amazing feeling to wake up to
Wake up, bro. You just hit 800k impressions from yesterday. Sit the fuck down and do this again. Oh, and while you're at it. Bang out another 400+ replies and hit the ceiling with bangers, trying to do quality replies this time.
Result - banger after banger because all I did was try to be witty and not get bored with replying. Here are the results:

Again, 50% well above 1k, and posts that people like attract profile views (3k times each profile extra impressions)

That day, I would have never guessed how good it was, I achieved my personal record: 2,465,008 impressions. I won. Defeated by the brain rot I replied to, but satisfied that effort DOES count.
Day 5 (Final day)
Monetization reached
I've reached monetization when I woke up. But had to confirm one last thing: does quality in replies really matter? And thank god - doubly confirmed - yes, it does. But calling people out and finding yourself on a trend gives you probably the most significant boost.
Behold my best replies:
#1 Quality (sad part - this story was fake):

#2 Participating in a trend
This dude pretended to have 30M followers but went insanely viral for trolling.

You see if you can manage to reply often, eventually you will hit a banger. If you reply with a banger on top of it, you'll get a huge share of the pie. See woocassh's reply for what's possible. If you do this for a loooong time, I think you can make money this way. Be it through creator revenue share or luring in new followers, or clicks to your profile.
This marks the end of my experiment for a big account (my main). But my conclusion opened up more questions:
- Can any small-sized account achieve this?
- Do you need to have a verified account (blue)?
- Can you get away with fewer replies (below 50/day)?
- How long does it take for small accounts?
- Which niches/accounts are the best?
- Can I optimize, automate, or script this?
Good news, I managed to answer all those questions.
I'm currently writing part 2 of a follow-up experiment I did with my alt:
"Reply Guy Method on 𝕏 (part 2): small guy version".
Stay tuned for more, and hope you liked this one.
If you have questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Now... hush... reply away!
